The CampingTips.com Story

CampingTips.com has been a dream since mid 1999. Finally, after 13 years it is finally becoming a reality.

I love camping! Anyone that has been camping will almost surely agree that spending time in the great outdoors is just hard to beat. Growing up strapping just a sleeping back and some food onto a saddle, I remember going camping with my dad.

As I grew older, I got a tent and started really enjoying the outdoors. Growing up on 240 acres with neighbors that had that much and more, there was ample places to enjoy camping.

Shortly after getting married, my best friend and I wanted our wives to go camping with us. All we had was a tent, and it was August in Oklahoma! The girls said they were only going if they had air conditioning. I wish I could find a picture of our tent with a windows A/C unit, but we went camping!

I have spent many nights back country camping in the Grand Canyon (permits are required) and have spent many nights hiking the Colorado Trail. Both wonderful experiences.

Shortly after, we graduated to a pop-up camper. We really enjoyed that, but my wife convinced me that we needed a 'real' bathroom, so in 2000 we bought a 28' 5th wheel. We sold that in 2002 (I know, not a good idea) so I could focus on my real job.

In 2011, two days before my youngest child graduated high school, we got back into camping in an awesome way! We purchased a 2012 3625RE Montanta 5th Wheel. We are not full timers, but we spent close to 100 days in it in 2011 and are getting close to that again here in the middle of 2012. We love camping!

I have learned several camping tips through the years and know that there are millions of you that have learned your own camping tips. I encourage you to share your tips with your fellow campers in our forum.

My Current Rig

2010 F250 Diesel and 2012 Montana 3625RE. I love the floor plan of this camper. After spending nearly 200 days in it in just over a year, I have to say... I would buy the same one again. I'm not a Montanta salesman... I just love my camper!
